1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file that a site stores through your browser and reads back on later visits. We also use similar storage — local storage and session storage in the browser, and pixels — and this policy calls all of them cookies.
Cookies are not programs. They cannot run code, read other files on your device or reach into another site; a cookie holds only what the site that set it puts in.
2. Who sets them
Some cookies are ours. BitHz sets the cookies that keep you signed in, remember your settings and secure the platform.
Others are set by the services that run parts of the platform for us — the venue that executes trades, our cloud and security providers, and the analytics service we use to understand how the platform is used. Those providers set their cookies under their own policies.
We do not sell your personal data, and cookies are never used to sell it.
3. Essential cookies
These cookies are needed for the platform to work at all:
- keeping you signed in and carrying your session between pages, so you are not asked for your password on every screen
- protecting your account and the platform against abuse — rate limiting, bot and fraud detection, and the checks that spot a stolen session
- remembering a consent choice you have made, so we do not ask again
- balancing load and keeping the site available while you are using it
The platform cannot work without these cookies. Blocking them signs you out and stops you from trading.
4. Preference cookies
These remember the choices you make, so the platform looks the way you left it:
- your language, and the light or dark theme
- the display currency and the market you last had open
- the defaults you set in the order form
Turning these off does not stop you trading — you simply make the same choices again on your next visit.
5. Analytics cookies
These tell us how the platform is used and how it performs: which pages are visited, where people get stuck, how long a page takes to load and whether anything errors. We use what we learn to fix and improve the platform.
Analytics data is used in aggregate. Where the law requires your consent for analytics cookies, we set them only after you agree.
6. Marketing cookies
BitHz does not run third-party advertising on the platform, and we do not set cookies to build advertising profiles or to follow you across other sites.
If we ever do use marketing cookies, we will ask for your consent first and update this policy before any are set.
7. Your choices
Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before setting cookies that are not essential, and you can change or withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent stops those cookies being set again; it does not undo what was collected while the consent was in place.
Essential cookies are set because the platform cannot run without them, not on consent.
8. Managing cookies in your browser
Every browser lets you see the cookies a site has stored, delete them and block them — for one site or for all of them. Look under the browser's privacy or site-data settings.
Blocking or deleting cookies for bithz.io will sign you out and can stop the platform from working. Clearing cookies does not delete your account or your balances.
9. How long cookies last
A session cookie is deleted when you close the browser. A persistent cookie stays until it expires or you delete it.
How long a cookie lasts depends on what it does: a sign-in session lasts as long as you stay signed in and no longer than the session we allow, while a theme or language choice can sit for months. Consent records are kept as long as we need to show that we asked.
10. Changes to this policy
We update this policy when the cookies we use change, or when the law does. The date at the top of the page is the last time it changed, and material changes are announced on the platform before they take effect.
